Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a uninhabited area of Montreal Island known as West Island. The West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is an extensive region that runs from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel grew up on the West Island, and it is commonly called her birthplace. However, she only was there for a brief period of time. Brugel grew in Courtice, just outside of Oshawa. She was determined to be a professional dancer but due to a rapid expansion, she surpassed every dance partner she met. The article she wrote about her experience revealed that was published in The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. When I outgrew my male friends, I quit. Some former dancers switch into acting. In Brugel's situation, it was a suggestion from an instructor in drama at high school who led her in the right direction. The teacher suggested she try to get a role for school's annual play. After a few auditions the role, she was chosen as the lead actress in Anne of Green Gables. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with the Bachelors in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Since then, Brugel has been in over 60 productions both big and small. The most notable was when she landed Rita's role in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel made an appearance on only a handful of instances in the initial season of The Handmaid's Tale. She was the only Canadian participant.
